Wendell Folks Cessna 182 - N8438S is SOLD!
(NEW Van's RV-8 under construction - - Need the Hangar Space!)

June 30, 2007:  The airplane is going to a young Alaska pilot and A&P in the Air National Guard in the Anchorage area.  He came down to see the airplane, fly it, and observe on the first day of the latest annual inspection for N8438S.  He plans to eventually put the airplane on floats since he has a lot of hours in float planes.

Wendell and our friend Terry McDowell will fly the airplane to Anchorage on a trip that is scheduled to begin on July 20th.  I have asked Wendell to take plenty of photos during that trip to post on this web site.  Since Terry lived up there several years, they will be having more of an adventure than just the flight.  Terry is a sportsman, so there will probably be some big fish that will become a meal somewhere in all their travels.

February 26, 2007:  This 1965 Cessna 182H has been well cared for by Wendell and is hangared near Chickamauga, Georgia.  The airplane has a fresh annual inspection from June 2006.  The photos below were all taken November 17, 2005.

The radio stack is setup for full IFR with a KX-155 TSO NAV/COM for ILS driving a KI-209 OBS/GS indicator.  The audio panel includes a marker beacon receiver.   A separate LORAN CDI meter is installed in a panel at the top of the stack for easy visibility.  The autopilot can accept input from the VOR/ILS receiver or the Northstar M1 LORAN receiver CDI output.

The bottom of the stack shows the Northstar M1 Loran unit, ADF receiver, and the King KT-76 mode C transponder using a Narco AR-850 blind altitude encoder.
